  Irving Berlin's songs have reached the top of the charts 25 times and have been recorded by  Ethel Merman, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday, and Ella Fitzgerald.  His music has become part of the American Songbook and jazz artists like Jjohn Coltrane and Dizzy Gillespie have put a whole new spin on his tunes.  Hear Cheek to Cheek, Blue Skies Always and more tonight when we feature Irving Berlin by the jazz giants on the 9 O'clock Special.

The Department of Justice will announce on Thursday that it's filing a lawsuit against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio over allegations of civil rights violations by his deputies. The Justice Department sent Arpaio a letter on Wednesday, notifying him of its intention to file suit.

  Self taught guitarist Jimmy Ponder started playing guitar in the 50s and was influenced by Wes Montgomery.  He has worked with Lou Donaldson and Jimmy McGriff and laid down some tracks with Houston Person.
