9 O'clock Jazz Special for 10/28

Trumpeter Clifford Brown had a sound that has inspired generations of trumpet players.  It's soulful and forceful and speaks to the heart. He was a brilliant trumpet player, but he was also a composer, and a compelling performer. "He had it all!" said his friend Sonny Rollins.  He died in a car crash on the way to a gig, when he was 27 years old.  Fortunately we have a number of recordings that he made before he died and you can hear what all the fuss is about when we feature the music of Clifford Brown tonight on the 9 O'clock Special.
