Arizona utilities this week gave regulators a sense of how
their supply of energy is looking for this summer. They told members of the
Arizona Corporation Commission that they are ready to handle the increased demand that higher temperatures will bring.
More than 400 city, county, state, tribal and federal
agencies took part Wednesday in a test of the country’s largest nuclear power
plant’s emergency plans.
Three new wind turbines spin outside the Leupp Schools on the Navajo Nation. On the roof are enough solar panels to generate 10 kilowatts of electricity to help power the school while stimulating classroom learning.
Record high temperatures are helping to set records for power consumption here in the Valley. The two major electrical utilities say they have enough power to meet demand but are looking for ways to keeps costs down.
