Saxaphonist Branford Marsalis is the oldest son of the Marsalis New Orleans jazz family.  Three of his brothers are musicians and his father taught music at the University, and had jazz jam sessions at their home.  Today Branford plays everything from funk to symphonic music and leads several different bands.  Enjoy some of his music tonight on the 9 O'clock Special.

Alphonse Mouzon's musical life is a Who's Who of Modern Jazz music. His talent covers a broad range of musical styles. He laid down the groove for pianist McCoy Tyner and he was a charter member along with keyboardist Joe Zawinul and saxophonist Wayne Shorter, of  Weather Report. He and guitarist Larry Coryell, co-founded of The Eleventh House, a fusion band of the seventies. And his new CD with Wallace Roney and Cedar Walton is dedicated to his daughter, he calls it "Angel Face".  Hear Alphonse Mouson tonight on the 9 O'clock Special.
