In January, Republican Governor Jan Brewer surprised many by
supporting the expansion of Medicaid in Arizona known as AHCCCS. Four months later, she is still drumming up support for the
plan, but some legislators and voters are not sold on the idea.
Child welfare advocates went to the state capital Tuesday to urge lawmakers to increase funding for child safety services, citing a crisis in Child Protective Services and funding that
has failed to keep pace with growing need.
