9 O'clock Jazz Special for 1/20

johnny otis The son of Greek Immigrants, Ioannis Veliotis took the name Johnny Otis and became the Godfather of R & B.  His dynamic bands foreshadowed Rock and Roll and pulled the blues into big band with a jazz flavor.  He discovered artists like Lil Esther and Etta James and created opportunities for many musicians. Johnny Otis passed away this week and tonight Blaise Lantana features the songs of Johnny Otis from the 40s and 50s tonight on the 9 O'clock Special.  jazz awakes at 8!
