The City of Peoria announced Monday  they’ve reached a new long-term agreement that will keep the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners in Peoria for spring training for the next two decades.

The Peoria Sports Complex will continue to serve as the spring training and player development home for the two teams until 2034.

As part of the agreement to extend the lease, the city will invest $48 million over the life of the contract for improvements to clubhouses, seating and upgrades to the field and lighting systems. The majority of the funding for the improvements will come from the city’s existing half-cent sales tax fund.

The complex was the first dual team spring training facility when it opened in 1994. It includes 12 major league practice fields and the stadium seats a little more than 11,000.
