Three witness in the class-action lawsuit against Sheriff Joe Apriao said Wednesday the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office discriminated against them. Two deputies rebutted those claims. Nadine Arroyo Rodriguez reports from the federal courthouse in Phoenix.

NADINE ARROYO RODRIGUEZ: Wednesday was the third day of testimony in the discrimination trial. Two Latino siblings testified they were threatened with jail if they didn’t leave a Phoenix convenience store they had just pulled into. Another, Daniel Magos, said he was frisked, and humiliated in front of his wife after deputies stopped him for not properly displaying his vehicle’s license plate. The 67-year-old said he was eventually let go, without a ticket. Magos says he’s confident the judge will force the department to reform.

ARROYO RODRIGUEZ: Two MCSO deputies also testified. They said they do not racially profile. Brian Sands -- MCSO Deputy Chief in charge of Immigration Enforcement -- took the stand late Wednesday.  His testimony will resume Thursday.
