The state’s ongoing effort to boost business between Arizona and Mexico continues. As KJZZ’s Peter O’Dowd reports, a group of regional planning associations will present a trade resolution to the US Department of Commerce.

PETER O'DOWD: The Maricopa Association of Governments has joined with nine other planning groups from Arizona. They’re submitting a resolution Wednesday to the U.S. Assistant Secretary at the Department of Commerce. The coalition is asking for improvements to a major roadway in Nogales; modernized technology at ports of entry across the state; and an extra 400 to 500 US customs officers. As the state’s economy slowly starts to grow again, state leaders are looking for ways to build commerce between Arizona and Mexico. Arizona’s exports to Mexico have not kept pace with states like California and Texas, despite its location along the border.
