Arizona taxpayers affected by Hurricane Sandy will have a little more time to file their returns. From Phoenix, KJZZ’s Mark Brodie has more.

MARK BRODIE: The state Department of Revenue says it’s taking the action in conjunction with tax relief provided by the IRS, and is acting under authority granted by state law to extend due dates and suspend interest and penalties that would accrue during federally declared disasters. DOR says it’ll grant a 60 day extension for affected taxpayers who had to file between October 26 and 31, and a 30 day extension for those filing this month. Those apply to sales, income, luxury and withholding taxes, as well as estimated payments. The agency says those extensions could be extended, depending on the extent of the damage from Hurricane Sandy. And, some rescue workers may also be eligible for the extensions.
