Russell Malone

Russell MaloneGuitarist Russell Malone is a self taught swing and bebop jazz player who started his career with Jimmy Smith in 1988 and worked with Harry Connick and diana Krall through the 1990s.  Today you'll hear him with his own quartet or playing with Diane Reeves or Sonny Rollins. His early influences were BB King and George Benson, so you can hear plenty of bles in Russelll's jazz.  Celebrate Russell Malone tonight in honor of his birthday tonight on the 9 O'clock Special.  Jazz awakes at 8.
