Four Arrested For Turning Laser On Police Helicopter

September 03, 2013

Phoenix police have arrested two men and two women for pointing a laser at a police helicopter.  Officers said the red laser beam was directed at a chopper Sunday night, temporarily blocking the vision of the pilot and observer. They said the helicopter crew was able to direct a ground team to a midtown apartment complex where police found a handgun with a laser attachment.

Officers arrested two men for investigation of endangerment and two women for investigation of obstructing government operations. Police said it is extremely dangerous to point a laser at an aircraft because it could temporarily blind the pilot, placing both the aircraft occupants and those on the ground in danger.
