Same Sex Marriage In Arizona Put On Hold

September 11, 2013

Same sex marriage in Arizona is going to be on hold at least for a few more years. Organizers have said national gay rights groups want to focus in 2014 on states that generally seemed more receptive to the concept than Arizona.

One of the state’s more passionate opponents of same sex marriage is Cathi Herrod of the Center for Arizona Policy. In a prepared statement, Herrod said, “redefining marriage is a nonstarter in arizona, regardless of the out of state money and numerous political operatives that poured into the state for this failed effort.”

That’s Herrod’s perspective. Angela Hughey is the co-founder and president of One Community, an interactive web and events community for LGBT and allied individuals and businesses. She offers another opinion.
