Job Summary
Writes, edits, delivers and produces news programming; serves as occasional morning edition host and newscaster; produces in-depth feature stories, 2-ways and gathers tape for newscasts; produces web-related material for KJZZ.org.
Essential Functions
75% - Writes, edits and produces news programming.
25% - Hosts news programs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years experience in gathering, writing, editing and delivering in-depth radio news
- Experience with digital audio editing equipment, including production of in-depth radio feature stories
- Experience running an audio console
- Must submit a compact disk containing your most recent in-depth stories, spot news and hosting work and no fewer than three writing samples by mail or drop off at the MCCCD Employment Department by 5 PM on the closing date; address is located below in the Special Notes section
Desired Qualifications
- Four years experience in radio producing, reporting and/or editing
- Public radio reporting and anchoring experience
- Regular in-depth contributions to National Public Radio helpful
- Experience hosting local or regional segments of national news magazines
- Experience with on-air public radio fundraising
Special Working Conditions
Hours will vary to include possible evening and/or weekend hours; local travel required; required to carry remote broadcast equipment; may require lifting up to 25 lbs.
