Man of the House, by John J Rhodes
( Phoenix, AZ ) A new biography of former Arizona congressman John J. Rhodes is now in book stores. Rhodes represented Arizona in the U.S. House of Representatives for 30 years beginning in 1952. He is credited with shepherding the Central Arizona Project to completion. As minority leader, Rhodes accompanied Sen. Barry Goldwater to the White House in 1972 to inform president nixon that he would not survive an impeachment vote… and in 1988, rhodes was preparing to run for Governor of Arizona if then-governor Evan Mecham were the subject of a recall election.
