St. Patrick's Day DUI patrols throughout Valley this weekend

Law enforcement officers from around the Valley will be on the roads tonight, looking for St. Patrick’s Day revelers who’ve had too much to drink. From Phoenix, KJZZ’s Mark Brodie reports.

MARK BRODIE: The Peoria Police Department will host a West Valley DUI Task Force, partnering with 30 to 40 officers from other West Valley police departments. It’s scheduled to run from 6:00 tonight through 4:00 tomorrow morning. In the East Valley, the Tempe and Chandler Police Departments will be working with the state Department of Public Safety and Governor’s Office of Highway Safety in a joint DUI task force from 8:00 tonight until 4:00 tomorrow morning. The Tempe police department says in 2009, there were 109 fatal crashes on St. Patrick’s Day, with more than a quarter involving drivers with blood alcohol concentrations of .08 or higher.
