Laura Palmisano joined the KJZZ news team in 2012 to serve as a Morning Edition producer. 

Palmisano has a degree in broadcast journalism with a minor in sustainability from Arizona State University.  She has worked in media since 2008 as a reporter, videographer, production assistant, television graphics operator and floor manager.  

She served as a production assistant for Eight, Arizona PBS, as a news and entertainment reporter for ASU's campus newspaper, the State Press and a reporter for the Cronkite News Service, covering news statewide.

Palmisano also worked as a videographer and producer for ASU’s Research Communications Department, producing educational programming. During that time she was also a multimedia intern with ABC-15 Phoenix.

Palmisano’s reporting has taken her across Arizona, covering stories such as the SB 1070 protests in Phoenix, a water pipeline controversy in Flagstaff, border health issues in Yuma County and Occupy protests in Tucson.

At ASU, she served as a club officer for the National Association of Hispanic Journalists chapter. She received the Arizona Broadcast Association Ken Heady Scholarship, the C.E. “Pep” Cooney Scholarship and the Miller Family Scholarship.

Palmisano is very proud to be a recipient of the James Alan Cox Foundation scholarship, which was established in honor of a photojournalist killed in a Phoenix mid-air helicopter collision.

A longtime fan of public radio, her favorite programs include Radiolab and Wait, Wait … Don’t Tell Me!
