Senate candidates meet in first debate Wednesday

Republican Jeff Flake and Democrat Richard Carmona meet for their first debate Wednesday in the race to replace Arizona’s retiring U.S. Senator Jon Kyl.

The two men will face off at 5:30 Wednesday evening on the show Arizona Horizon, broadcast locally on Channel 8, Arizona PBS. The debate will also be carried nationally on C-SPAN.

Carmona and Flake have two other debates scheduled: October 15 in Tucson and October 25 in Yuma. Carmona is a former U.S. Surgeon General. Flake represents Arizona's 6th District in the U.S. House.
