Maricopa County Recorder Helen Purcell says her office did make mistakes when incorrect information on some Spanish-language materials was distributed. The long-time Republican county recorder has faced heavy criticism over the last few weeks.  KJZZ’s Al Macias reports.

AL MACIAS: Over the last two weeks the recorder’s office admitted that two different pieces of Spanish language materials with the wrong date for the November 6th general election were distributed to some voters. Pima County Recorder, F. Ann Rodriguez, a Democrat, says from what she can tell Purcell and her staff dealt with the problems quickly.
 
F. ANN RODRIGUEZ: We are human beings, errors are going to happen. But if you fail to correct it, I think the issue has come out far in advance enough that it can be corrected.

MACIAS: Last week a news report attributed a statement to Purcell that it is a felony to collect, possess and deliver ballots of voters. She denied that. In a release, Purcell said suggestions that her office was trying to suppress voter turnout among any group is a malicious lie. She says she has worked with many organizations to assist voters get their ballots to the polls. She said her office will be launching a Spanish language campaign to make sure everyone knows the election is Nov. 6.
