State environmental officials have extended their high pollution advisory into Tuesday. From Phoenix, KJZZ’s Mark Brodie has more.

MARK BRODIE: That’s led the Maricopa County Air Quality Department to extend the No Burn Day restrictions until midnight tonight - meaning no wood or outdoor fires will be allowed today. This is the fifth straight day of the restriction. The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality says the small particulate matter pollution, known as PM 2.5 is high. That generally comes from burning wood or dust that’s been kicked up into the air. The Director of the Maricopa County Air Quality Department says in a statement that the agency knows how enjoyable a cozy fire can be, especially during the holidays, but that increased fireplace and outdoor fire activity this time of year affects air quality, and many residents.
