What do New York subway riders and Arizona golf courses have in common? Hopefully a lot, if the Scottsdale Convention and Visitors’ Bureau latest campaign works. KJZZ’s Al Macias reports.

AL MACIAS: New Yorkers on the 42nd Street subway will be looking at pictures of the Sonoran Desert, Scottsdale spas and sunny golf courses. In past years, the bureau has pitched Arizona’s warm weather but this is the first time they are advertising on the subways. Kelly Tope is with the Convention and Vistors bureau.

KELLY TOPE: The train we’ve picked is a commuter train, so it’s one of the busiest connecting trains in the New York Area. And as we know people in New York, 99 percent of them use some kind of public transportation, regardless of their income.

MACIAS: Tope says the campaign will also be running In Canada and Chicago. She says even though the Valley just went through several sub-freezing nights, the long term forecast is for temperatures in the 70s, while Chicago is looking at temps in the 20s and 30s over the next few days.
