In the spirit of binational solidarity, Baja California's governor and tourism secretary and Tijuana's mayor attended California Governor Jerry Brown's swearing-in ceremony. The Baja California contingent met briefly with Brown afterward.
Baja Calfiornia Tourism Secretary Juan Tintos Funcke, said it was important to attend the inauguration because Baja California and California have a strong relationship.
He said collaboration on a number of issues will continue. "The most important ones are security aspects. You have to remember that former Attorney General Brown, now governor, worked closely with our attorney general. The other important topics include the border crossing infrastructure, energy, health, economic development, agriculture, and environmental issues," said Tintos.
Tijuana's Mayor, who was not available to comment, said in a press release that gun trafficking was one topic he'd like to discuss with Governor Brown.
