Arpaio critics feel validated after three-year investigation

KJZZ conducted interviews with several experts and officials to get their reaction to today's Department of Justice report on the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. The DOJ investigation revealed a pattern of wide ranging civil rights violations against Latinos.

From our live broadcast, former Maricopa County Attorney Rick Romley spoke about Sheriff Joe Arpaio the documents Romley provided to the DOJ.

Also from the live broadcast, former United States Attorney Paul Charlton spoke on the finding of unconstitutional practices at the sheriff's office.

Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon spoke to a reporter about the complaints he filed with the DOJ in 2008.

Arizona State University legal expert Paul Bender gave some background to the investigation and spoke about the DOJ strategy to ask for the sheriff's office compliance.

Local Latino elected officials and activists held a press conference Thursday to praise the federal government's investigation and report.
