Cruise bookings down after ship wreck in Italy

Bookings on Carnival Cruise lines are down significantly since the wreck of the Costa Concordia more than two weeks ago. The ship is owned by Carnival.

It ran aground off the coast of Italy. Seventeen people are confirmed dead and 15 remain missing.

Analysts estimate cancellations in the U.S. are up 10 to 15 percent. They say some buyers may be waiting to see if the cruise lines will offer lower prices.

They say it’s too soon to know what the long-term implications are for the cruise industry.
