India requires Internet companies to help maintain "public order, decency, or morality." In China, Yahoo supplied the government with information that helped to convict political dissidents. Journalist Rebecca MacKinnon, author of Consent of the Networked: The Worldwide Struggle for Internet Freedom, examines recent attempts by governments around the globe to restrict Internet content and whether citizens can preserve their liberties.
