The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday appointed Phil Lovas to fill a vacancy. This is the second vacancy in that legislative district. KJZZ’s Al Macias reports.
Lovas was appointed to fill the vacancy when representative Judy Burgess was named to replace former state senator Scott Bundgaard. The Peoria legislator resigned last month during an ethics hearing over charges stemming from a fight he had with a former girlfriend. That set off the chain of resignations and appointments.
Lovas is a hotel developer. He says he intends to run for the House this fall in the newly created District 22, which covers Peoria, Glendale, Sun City West and Surprise.
