More training flights will be taking off and landing at Davis-Monthan Air Force base in Tucson.
A draft environmental assessment by the Air Force reports that increased flights would not significantly impact the surrounding environment.
The recommended plan would increase sorties from around 1,200 a year to a little over 2,200. Sept. 14 is the deadline for public comment on the plan.
Davis-Monthan provides year-round training for pilots from other branches of service as well as pilots from allied nations.
EDITOR'S NOTE: This story has been updated to reflect that the 1,200 number reflected flights per year, not flights per day.
