A former state representative has been acquitted of domestic violence charges, about four months after being forced to resign his seat over the matter. From Phoenix, KJZZ’s Mark Brodie has more.
MARK BRODIE: In February, most House Democrats signed onto an ethics complaint against their then-colleague, Daniel Patterson. It claimed the Tucson Democrat had violated House ethics rules, over allegations of domestic violence against a former girlfriend. The lawmakers also accused Patterson of threatening behavior at the capitol. He resigned in April, on the same day the House Ethics Committee voted to recommend the full chamber expel him. In his resignation letter, he said he was leaving his seat under strong protest. Wednesday, a Tucson judge acquitted Patterson of the misdemeanor domestic violence charges. In a Wednesday tweet, Patterson says "truth and justice win."
