A jury has sentenced twice-convicted murderer David Lamar Anthony to death.
Anthony had been convicted and sent to death row for the 2001 murders of his wife, Donna Anthony, and his two stepchildren. But in 2008, the state Supreme Court overturned that verdict, ruling the trial judge was wrong to let the prosecution argue that Anthony had a motive.
Anthony’s second murder trial began in June and he was convicted August 28. Earlier this week, jurors found there were aggravating circumstances in the case, making Anthony eligible for the death penalty. Thursday, that’s the sentence they handed down on all three counts.
Though the bodies of Donna Anthony and her children hadn’t been found when David Anthony first went to trial, their remains were recovered at a Buckeye construction site in 2005.
