Urban Outfitters Incorporated and other defendants in a case alleging Navajo tribal trademark infringement want it moved to Pennsylvania. From Phoenix, KJZZ’s Steve Goldstein has more.
The Navajo Nation sued the corporations in February, alleging they violated trademarks on the Navajo name that cover clothing, footwear, textiles, online retail sales and household products. The lawsuit seeks monetary compensation and an order permanently enjoining Urban Outfitters from using the name "Navajo" or variations of it on its products.
The case is pending in U.S. District Court in New Mexico.
Defense attorneys recently argued in court documents that the eastern district of Pennsylvania is more convenient and has handled more intellectual property matters. The also say the move would be in the best interest of justice.
