Report: Dever was legally drunk

Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever was legally drunk when he flipped his vehicle and died on a gravel road in Northern Arizona. The toxicology report came out several weeks after the September 18 th crash. It shows Dever’s blood alcohol content was above the legal limit of .08 percent.

The sheriff was on his way to visit family members for a camping and hunting trip when his pickup rolled over on a remote road near Williams, Arizona. A report released earlier this week also showed Dever’s seatbelt was unbuckled, and he was carrying liquor and beer in the truck. It’s unclear if any had been opened.

Through the sheriff’s office, his family says Dever was still reeling from the recent death of his mother. They say they prey this report does not diminish the public’s respect for the sheriff.
