Customs Officials Asking Border Crossers To Unmask For Halloween

Officials along the U.S.-Mexico border are preparing for an increased volume of traffic on Halloween.

There are no figures that point to the uptick, just tradition. Fox News Latino reports,

According to border residents, despite the fact that in Mexico Halloween is celebrated with costume parties, the custom of trick or treating has not spread there. Therefore, El Paso neighborhoods each year have traffic tie-ups on Halloween, many of the vehicles bearing Mexican license plates because of the large number of people from the neighboring country who come to the Texas city for the holiday.

Officials are asking both young and old, zombies and honey badgers, to remove masks and make-up that could create problems with identification.

The border traffic reverses on the Mexican Day of the Dead, Nov. 2, when border residents travel south to celebrate in Mexico.
