With the general election just days away, Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Democratic opponent has reached a fundraising peak, but is still dwarfed by the sheriff’s campaign account.
According to the most recent campaign finance report, retired Phoenix Police Sergeant Paul Penzone has raised about $530,000 in total. In the most recent reporting period, Penzone’s campaign had its most successful fundraising efforts yet. The report shows Penzone with $116,000 on hand.
Meanwhile, Sheriff Arpaio has now raised a total of $8.1 million during this campaign. The report shows Arpaio’s campaign with just more than $1 million on hand.
At the last campaign finance filing date, Independent candidate Mike Stauffer, a retired Scottsdale Police Lieutenant, had about $300 on hand.
