Multiple Murder Sites Discovered In Chihuahua

MEXICO -- It was a violent weekend in the northern Mexican state of Chihuahua. Police discovered two separate crime scenes involving multiple victims.

On Saturday morning police discovered eight bodies dumped along a highway outside the town of Rosales, six hours south of the U.S./Mexico border. The dead had not been identified 24 hours after they were found. All had a single bullet hole to the head and showed signs of torture.

Police attribute the killings to organized crime and suspect the victims were kidnapped a day earlier.

Also on Saturday police discovered a clandestine gravesite outside Ciudad Juárez with the ossified remnants of multiple people.

Drug violence in the state of Chihuahua has been on a decline. However, authorities say the central part of the state continues to be disputed between the Sinaloa drug cartel and the Juarez cartel.
