Energy service company creates hundreds of new Valley jobs

One of the largest energy service companies in the country is expanding its business in Arizona. Direct Energy is moving to a new location and is adding hundreds of jobs.

NADINE ARROYO RODRIGUEZ: Direct Energy will hire 300 people to work out of its new facility in Tempe. The company currently has 150 employees in the Valley who work out of a call center in Phoenix. In February, it will move to a larger office space near Sky Harbor Airport. Direct Energy operates in 46 U.S. states and in Canada, and it provides energy-related services to more than six million residential and commercial customers. Direct Energy’s Steven Murray made the announcement at a downtown Phoenix press conference.

STEVEN MURRAY: We’ve been growing for the last decade and we anticipate growing even more quickly in the future. And as a result of that growth we’re able to invest in the communities that we serve. We’re able to create jobs. And we’re committed. We’re invested.

ARROYO RODRIGUEZ: Direct Energy has already started hiring for the new site.
