A new report says Arizona is lagging behind most states when it comes to vehicle-safety laws.
The Advocates for Highway and Auto Safetygive Arizona high ratings for child-safety and impaired-driving laws. But, they say the state is behind the curve on laws regulating seatbelt and helmet use, texting behind the wheel, and teen driving limits. Alberto Gutier of the Governor's Office of Highway Safety tells Cronkite News Service, the reportdoes not accurately reflect Arizona’s road safety record. Only Mississippi and South Dakota scored lower than Arizona.
