Flu outbreak in Arizona picking up pace

Arizona's flu season gained momentum with a reported 1,500 new cases surfacing last week. From Phoenix, KJZZ's Lynn Kelly reports.
Arizona and the nation are seeing a lot more flu cases this year over last. The flu uptick this season began later compared to the previous year. State Heath Department Epidemiologist Clarisse Tsang says the numbers are high, but not unusual.

"Flu is unpredictable, and we tend to see a peak in February or March or so, so it's definitely on par to what we normally see in terms of seasonal flu," she said.

Tsang says being sick is a good reason to stay home so you don't spread the flu, but she also emphasizes it's not too late to get your flu shot.
