Texas Mines California For Jobs

Radio stations across California are starting to air a direct appeal from Governor Rick Perry, encouraging businesses to pull up stakes and put down roots in Texas.

"Building a business is tough," Perry says in the ad. "But I hear building a business in California is next to impossible."

In the 30 second spot Perry lists low taxes, sensible regulations and a fair legal system as incentives for doing business in Texas.

California Gov. Jerry Brown did not respond to a request for comment.

Low Blow

California and Texas have had a long running business rivalry. The relationship has entered into local politics as well. Last year during the San Diego mayor’s race, Councilman Carl DeMaio traveled to Texas to learn more about the state’s job-creating policies.
