Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio fell and broke his shoulder Thursday.
The 80-year-old sheriff went to St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment.
As of Thursday afternoon, Arpaio had not yet been released. He is expected back to work in a few days.
The Sheriff was reportedly cheerful in spite of the fracture. According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, he even joked he is relieved the injury is to his left shoulder, not his right, so he can still operate his "Smith and Wesson and his Smith Corona" -- a reference to his gun and typewriter.
