Scottsdale Police Commander accepts Casa Grande police chief job

A Scottsdale Police Commander has accepted a job as police chief in Casa Grande.  KJZZ’s Dennis Lambert has more.

Casa Grande’s deputy City Manager, Larry Raines says Johnny Cervantes will replace Chief Bob Huddleston, who is retiring March 31.

The Casa Grande Dispatch reports the offer to Cervantes is conditional, depending on background checks, interviews with city officials and question-and-answer sessions.

Cervantes joined the Scottsdale police force in 1990, after working as an animal control officer in Gila County. He’s expected to begin work, the day Chief Huddleston leaves his post.
