Mónica Ortiz Uribe is a Senior Field Correspondent for KJZZ's Fronteras: the Changing America Desk in Las Cruces, NM. Ortiz Uribe is a native of El Paso, TX, who worked as a freelance reporter for outlets such as NPR, Public Radio International and Radio Bilingue. She also served as a reporter for the Waco Tribune Herald in Waco, Texas. As is the case today, most of her stories have focused on the the effects of drug-related violence across the border in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.
