The City of Scottsdale is still tweaking its proposed pedicabs ordinance. The public will be able to weigh in on the proposal at Thursday night's community forum. The Scottsdale Transportation Commission will submit recommendations on the proposed pedicab ordinance to the city council for a possible vote in April.
Earlier this month the city compromised with pedicab owners and drivers on several key provisions of the plan. It eliminated the need for operators to wear reflective safety vests, and removed the requirement for a secondary braking system. Under the plan the city will still require a driver’s license to operate the tricycle, as proof drivers know the rules of the road.
The proposed regulations stem from an accident in January when a drunk driver hit a pedicab and critically injured two passengers.
