Tucson council supports bill seeking to punish impaired shooters

The Tucson City Council voted Tuesday to support proposed state legislation that seeks to crack down on people who fire off guns while intoxicated. The bill would make it a felony for a person with a blood alcohol reading greater than the legal limit to shoot a firearm. The measure sponsored by Representatives Bruce Wheeler and Ethan Orr is called “Genna’s Law”. It is named after a woman whose intoxicated boyfriend accidently shot and killed her last summer.
