E. coli threat prompts recall of some frozen food in Arizona

A major producer of frozen foods is recalling products distributed in Arizona and several other states because of concerns about E. coli contamination. David McAtee of the Yavapai County Health Department says the voluntary recall involves Farm Rich Brand frozen meals and snacks, produced between Nov. 12-19 of last year.

“They are recalling about 190,000 lbs of frozen chicken, quesadillas, and various other sorts of heat-preserve snack-type foods,” McAtee said.

McAtee says E. coli is a potentially deadly disease that can cause diarrhea, dehydration and sometimes, kidney failure.
