After contacting just about every newspaper in New Mexico, she moved to a town of 10,000 and became the chief photographer at The Silver City Daily Press. She quickly found that journalism and small-town life suited her. As she continued her print career, Sieg also whetted her appetite for radio at rural public radio stations like KSIL in Silver City, N.M.; KDNK in Carbondale, Colo.; and KZMU in Moab, Utah. Before joining KJZZ, she spent two years as a fill-in Morning Edition host at WNCW, an eclectic music station based in Spindale, N.C.. In addition to producing content for newspaper and radio outlets, her work has appeared in Fodor’s travel guides on Utah and North Carolina. Sieg loves the South but is happy to be back in the Southwest, which feels like home. When she’s not reporting, chances are she’s running, baking, knitting or driving to some far-flung town deep in the desert-- just to see what it looks like.
