The Arizona Department of Weights and Measures says it found some retailers were overcharging customers for their Easter hams.
Spokesman Shawn Marquez says they wanted to ensure customers were getting a fair and accurate price, but found some problems.
“We found that there was a whole and a half ham and another smoked, spiral, sliced ham that the weight was off. It was actually shorting the customer,” Marquez said.
Marquez says they checked 36 stores, and audited nearly 2,500 hams in the enforcement action. He says the stores where there were problems were charging customers for the wires in the hams, and the packaging, as well as the meat.
