Fred DuVal to declare his candidacy for governor

Another person wants to be Arizona’s next governor, but this time it looks like it’s more than a trial balloon. Fred DuVal is expected to formally announce his candidacy Wednesday morning for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination.

DuVal will be getting an early start on the November 2014 election. He served in former Arizona governor Bruce Babbitt’s administration and later in various positions in President Bill Clinton’s administration.

DuVal ran for office once before when he sought a Congressional seat in 2002.

Governor Jan Brewer is term limited and cannot run again. Some supporters have raised the possibility of challenging the language in the state constitution that bars her from running for a third term.

According to the Secretary of State’s website, four others have declared their candidacy for governor.
