Southern Arizona fire has been contained, serves as reminder of fire danger

Firefighters in southern Arizona were quick to fight a wildfire that has charred 161 acres of the Coronado National Forest , east of Nogales . Spokeswoman Heidi Schewel says they used a lot of resources to limit the growth of the “Juniper” Fire.

“They are putting out hot areas around the perimeter of the fire,” Schewel said. “The only heat that is coming from it at this point is mainly interior smoke. The fire is not spreading.”

The suspected person-caused fire is a reminder of increased fire danger. Schewel warns to be careful with the use of fire on public lands saying that, “no one wants to be the cause of a wildfire.”
