Coupon counterfeiter will go to prison

A Phoenix woman bas been sentenced to two years in prison and may  pay up to $5 million in restitution for her part in a fake coupon ring. In March, 41-year-old Robin Ramirez pleaded guilty to counterfeiting. Maricopa County prosecutors said Ramirez was also sentenced to seven years of probation. A judge will determine exactly how much she will have to pay in restitution later.

Ramirez and two other women were arrested last July after an eight-week investigation by Phoenix police. More than $25 million worth of fake coupons and $2 million in other assets were seized from the women’s Valley homes.

The counterfeit manufacturer coupons were allegedly bought overseas and sold online.
