School official: Prop 100 spared deeper education cuts

When Proposition 100 was on the ballot three years ago, one of the biggest selling points made by supporters was that two thirds of the money would go to education and prevent deeper cuts to schools.

Prop 100 is set to expire at the end of the month, and throughout May, we have been looking at the temporary one cent sales tax increase’s impact on Arizona.

We heard from Bobette Sylvester, the Assistant Superintendent for Business and Support Services with Mesa Public Schools, the biggest district in Arizona. She said finances were bleak leading up to the vote.
